Happy Late Birthday!

Huey's birthday was February 17th.

HAPPY 3rd BIRTHDAY MY BIG BABY!!!!!

He got to spend all day outside. Apparently after he finished running laps for a couple hours, he opened his paddock gate and hung out with my friends filly. Guess he was feeling a little flirty ;) Silly boys....oh and of course, not only did he pull one shoe but BOTH shoes so guess who is going barefoot!! That's 4 shoes in 4 weeks. So we decided to just pull them. He doesn't really need them right now anyways. He stays sound without them. He obviously doesn't want them and he moves SO much cuter now without them. Happy mommy. Saves me $$$.

I am going to have my cowgirl friend (SG) come work with Huey while I am out of town. I finally have a routine figured out and I don't want to back track every time I go out of town for a week or two. She came out and watched me work with him to see what she is getting into. He was really good but like I keep reminding myself and like she commented, "He is just a big baby that doesn't know anything". I have been trying to keep that on repeat to keep myself sane. Hah!

Today I just chased him around the indoor, which is also a step in the right direction. It showed I have his respect and dominance. If I tried to free lunge him before, he would strike and lunge and kick at me but today he just trotted and cantered all around me. It surprised me how lazy he was! Good sign!!
